PLACEMAKING VISION | THE GASKELL DEVELOPMENT
HOMES INSPIRED BY MAKERS
Established in the early 20th century by families of carpenters, lumber workers and builders, Mount Pleasant has always been home to craftsmanship.
Unique and locally-minded, The Gaskell is a continuation of the unique and unconventional community spirit.
The Gaskell honours Mount Pleasant’s legacy of forestry with wood construction, rich in the unique character of the material. An artful blend of heritage and contemporary, industrial architecture, The Gaskell is a celebration of craftsmanship remembered and revitalized for today’s lifestyle.
A vision BRIEF that inspires
Used as a visual guidebook to communicate a holistic concept from historical precedents to brand messaging, interiors and way-finding look and feel, executive teams and partners were able to move the project forward with clarity and momentum.

capturing the right retail mix
Attention is paid to attracting the ground-floor retail tenants that align with the overall positioning of the development. Keeping with brand messaging, a list of retail merchants was identified and the leasing team had a direction to pursue. The executive team felt that potential tenants were more responsive once they saw the vision of the development and could imagine being with neighbouring businesses that could help attract customers to their own business.
